Professor Sanjay Juvekar is one of India's most distinguished community health researchers, with more than 35 years dedicated to transforming public health in rural India through rigorous science, compassionate engagement, and innovative methodologies. As a trained anthropologist, he bridges the gap between human behavior and population health — leading teams that span disciplines from medicine and data science to biotechnology and field epidemiology. Based at the Vadu Rural Health Program, KEM Hospital Research Centre, Pune, he has pioneered landmark surveillance systems, led over 70 research projects across India and internationally, and shaped the careers of scholars across four continents.
